Army Should Go Back to Patrolling the City: City General Secretary
Marco Antonio Aranda Martínez, city government General Secretary, mentioned that as a security strategy, it would be convenient if the Army started to patrol San Luis Potosi again, to inhibit crime.
Aranda pointed out that citizens tend to trust the army much more than police; he added that one of the priorities for San Luis Potosi, is to increase and better the police force, so most of the financial resources are going towards training.
The Secretary also said that security is the foremost demand from potosinos, but not as a recent situation, but from several administrations. The Police Department has been working on prevention oriented programs.
Canacintra Industrial Chamber will “Open Doors” to all candidates
CANACINTRA Industrial Chamber Council decided to create the Political Liaison Commision, headed by Francisco Mendizabal Acebo, to set a woark schedule with all candidates willing to share their ideas and proposals.
Raul Martínez Jimenez, president of CANACINTRA, informed about this and added that businessmen and industrials want to be part of the electoral process and to be able to give ideas for a “better Mexico”.
He added that after the candidates win their elections, they’ll be invited to meet with the Council, so that they can present their platforms and proposals to strengthen the industrial sector.
Over 100 thousand young Potosinos will vote for the first time in 2018.
Ana Lilia Perez Mendoza, the National Electoral Institute’s state representative (INE), said that over a 100 thousand young Potosinos are expected to vote for the first time.
In press conference, Perez Mendoza warned government officials interested in taking part of the elections, to be careful and avoid anticipated pre campaign events, starting September 1st, which is the official starting point of the local 2017-2018 election.
Up to August 15th INE has registered 81,050 youths of between 18 and 19 years of age, and the registration process ends on January 31st, so the estimate is to get up to 100 thousand.
