IN NOTIGRUPO’S LOCAL NEWS, STATE POLICE WILL WATCH OVER MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATIONS; STATE DEPUTIES UNANIMOUSLY APPROVE TO START LEGISLATIVE PRIVILEGE STRIPPING OF DEPUTY ENRIQUE FLORES; FIRST 27 METRIC TONS (29.7 TONS) OF EMERGENCY SUPPLIES GATHERED BY POTOSINOS, ARE SHIPPED OUT TO EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS.
Immediate Reaction Force (FRIM) of state police, will watch over Mexican Independence celebrations
The state government, using both the Immediate Reaction Force and the Metropolitan Police, will guarantee security for Potosinos during the Mexican Independence celebrations this weekend.
Mexican cities and towns traditionally celebrate during the evening of September 15th, in a ceremony known as “El Grito”, which commemorates the call to arms of Catholic priest Miguel Hidalgo, considered the Father of the Country, in 1810.
Mexicans go to the town’s main square, where the President, governor or municipal president, goes out to a balcony or town gazebo, and waving the flag, they ring a bell and call out a harangue in favor of the independence heroes and their respective town or state.
Afterwards, there’re usually pyrotechnics, music, and food courts, and it tends to be a family gathering and thousands pack the plazas, so security logistics tend to be a serious situation.
That makes it important for all police corporations and even army units, to work in a coordinated effort.
State deputies unanimously approve to start legislative privilege stripping, of deputy Enrique Flores
Local deputies unanimously decided to allow the beginning of the legislative privilege stripping of Enrique Flores, who’s been accused of corruption. It is the first step for the State Prosecutor to be able to accuse and begin trial against Flores.
Besides Enrique Flores, there were five more dossiers that the deputies looked into, 3 municipal presidents and two electoral magistrates; two of the municipal presidents managed to work out deals, so there will only be the other cases pending.
Each case will be analyzed individually and could take up to a year, but will actually take much less to solve, according to the chairman of the Justice Commision, Deputy Xitlalic Sánchez Servín.
First 27 metric tons (29.7 tons) of emergency supplies gathered by Potosinos, are shipped out to earthquake victims
The state Governor, Juan Manuel Carreras, gave the go ahead for the first 27 metric tons (29.7 tons) of supplies donated by Potosinos, for the earthquake victims of Chiapas, Guerrero and Oaxaca states.
These supplies will be taken to the Campo Marte military facility in Mexico City, where the Federal Department of Family Integration (DIF) will send them to the affected states.
The shipment includes canned food, water, personal cleaning items, powdered milk, diapers, shovels, among other items.
The Governor called all potosinos to keep on donating and if possible, give picks, shovels and tools for the reconstruction effort, plus tents for those who lost their homes.
