OPACITY AND CORRUPTION IN XILITLA LUMBERING PERMITS
A local non governmental organization, «Salvemos Xilitla, SLP» (Let’s Save Xilitla, SLP) denounced lack of transparency and corruption, pertaining lumbering permits in 1,500 hectares of cloud forest in the municipality of Xilitla.
The NGO’s spokesman, Juan Manuel Martínez Guiza, expressed surprise at the fact that a permit that affects 1% of the total forest reserve of the country, did not pass through the State Forest Council.
«Turns out that the business of the National Forest Commision (CONAFOR) advisors, is making ‘technical studies’ worth millions of pesos, which are sanctioned by Martin Toranzo,
the CONAFOR representative in San Luis Potosi», Martínez Guiza pointed out.
WOMEN AND YOUNG VOTERS, THE KEY FOR PRI WINNING THE 2018 ELECTION: GOVERNOR CARRERAS
While attending a statewide meeting of the National PRI Women’s Organization (ONMPRI), state governor Juan Manuel Carreras asserted that the commitment of potosino women will turn the 2018 election in favor of the Revolutionary Institutional Party (PRI).
In the joint meeting of party members and the state executive, the ONMPRI leader, state deputy Rebeca Terán highlighted Governor Carreras positive performance in state government, which will reflect on good results por the party.
State PRI president, Martín Juárez Córdova, called on PRI women to close ranks around the PRI originated state and federal governments to make sure positive results happen in 2018.
POTOSINO SURVIVOR OF THE SAN ANTONIO «DEATH SEMI TRUCK», PENDING ON MIGRATORY STATUS
A Potosino woman who survived the lockup under extreme high temperatures in a semi truck in south Texas that ocurred a few weeks ago, is pending on the Migration Authorities decision.
The fatal incident, which caused 9 deaths by suffocation and heat stroke, happened after several dozen illegal migrants were packed into the trailer of a semi truck; the truck was located in a San Antonio, Texas road, and several migrants were rescued with severe dehydration. The truck operator was arrested and is currently in custody.
The 22 year old woman, whose name was not disclosed, has already given her statement to criminal authorities as a witness and is expecting the final decision on being given a Humanitarian Visa, or being deported back to Mexico; that ruling will probably come within the following six days.
